The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella

Written by a UK based international best-selling author, this novel is a romantic comedy of errors. The story follows Samantha, a lawyer who is so much focused on making a partner at a law firm that she keeps on postponing other activities such as seeing friends for the sake of her career.

However, one mistake causes her to run away and she travels to a unknown place in the countryside where she’s mistaken for a housekeeper for an elder couple. There she learns how to cook, clean the house and as she gradually gets to know the quirky and fun loving characters, she realizes that life isn’t all about career.

It clearly depicts the fast life of modern times. People are so busy with their work, depending on their phones for emails and calls that they don’t have enough time either for themselves or for others. In our quest to further our career and gain recognition, we forget about the little things in life that can give us more happiness. A little time with friends, celebrating your birthday with your family or going for a vacation for a change can be the best stress reliever.

Although it’s not easy to balance everything in our lives but once we learn how to do it, then life will become more interesting and less stressful. It’s the perfect book for people looking for romance mixed with humor.
